ZONG-FRAUD-AUGUST-2015This has not happened for the first time that Telecom Companies found guilty of stealing mobile balance from their customers. There have been reports of sudden balance disappearance to slight balance decrease without making even a single call, sending a text or using internet/any package. Recently, Zong started a new trick of stealing money from their 3G & 4G internet customers. Read the details after the jump.

There are several internet packages for 3G and 4G by Zong and apparently users can activate and deactivate them anytime they want but actually that doesn’t happen. Zong has started their Good Night Offer package which gives you 1 GB of internet data from 1 am to 9 am and according to their website the priority of this package is highest which means that your smartphone will use Good Night Offer’s 1 GB data first no matter how many packages you have already been activated previously (weekly, monthly etc).

I activated the Good Night Offer package around 1:06 am and received a message from 6464 that my package has been subscribed (screenshot attached below) and when I checked my balance 6 Rs/- was deducted (the cost of the package). I started downloading files and browsing the internet. Suddenly, I received a text message just after an hour that my regular “Monthly 500 MB Package” has been used up-to 80% which was quite unusual since I have the Good Night Offer activated (1 GB data). I called the customer service center (310) and they told me that the minimum time of any package to activate is 2 hours which is not mentioned even on their website and they do not tell this to their customers while they are activating the package over text message. This shows that Zong is intentionally stealing from their customers.

The CSR (Fareed) told me (at 2:15 am on 5th August, 2015) that we cannot do anything since it’s the policy. I asked him to let me talk to his manager (Ehtisham Akbar) who were busy doing God knows what and wasn’t available for the customer waiting on the call. He told me that Ehtisham Sahab will call you himself in a while which he (as expected) never did. That shows the responsibility level of Zong’s staff and pathetic customers service.

JUST KEEP THAT IN MIND THAT IF YOU DO NOT HAVE ANY PACKAGE ACTIVATED AND HAVE LET’S SAY 1000 Rs/- BALANCE IN YOUR ACCOUNT, THE GOOD NIGHT OFFER PACKAGE FRAUD WILL SUCK ALL YOUR BALANCE AND YOU WILL NEVER GET ANY NOTIFICATION IN THE STEALING PROCESS!

The higher officials of Zong really need to look into this matter and feel some shame for deceiving their loyal customers like that. If you really want your customers to know the fact that your packages take 2 hours to get activated (which is really surprisingly slow & strange) then mention it on your website in bold letters or send a message to customers every time he/she activate a package otherwise expect a lawsuit soon. Moreover, you will loose your customers due to these fraudulent activities.

I recommend you all to please be aware of these companies, they always steal from you. Keep an eye on your mobile balance and report immediately to PTA if you see any suspicious activity.
